May 30, 2009 by Porky · 6 Comments

In a new twist to celebrity backlash, a Twitter trend called “unfollowdiddy” has emerged soon after hip-hop mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs hit one million followers on the microblogging site.

While celebrities like Oprah Winfrey and Ashton Kutcher have embraced Twitter and quickly built up an online following, Mr. Combs didn’t receive the same warm and fuzzy reception from Twitterers.

Starting on Wednesday, the hashtag “#unfollowdiddy” reached the top ten Twitter trends, which persisted Thursday, in which users posted the hashtag and listed both humorous and serious reasons why people shouldn’t follow Diddy on Twitter.
