Nas, Damien Marley, The Roots, Big Boi, Common and many others will play this summer’s Rock The Bells traveling Hip-Hop festival, which is set to visit 10 cities between June 27 and August 9. Rock The Bells has traditionally been a tour where Rap veterans showcase their talents alongside promising newcomers, and that tradition will continue as old schoolers KRS-One, House Of Pain, M.O.P. and Wu-Tang members RZA and Raekwon play with up-and-coming artists like Mickey Factz, K’Naan and Tech N9ne. Each tour stop will feature 25 artists on two stages, and it is scheduled to visit Toronto, Washington D.C., Boston, New York, Denver, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Miami and Vancouver. Specific dates and venues will be announced shortly.

Additionally, headliners Nas and Damien Marley will be releasing a joint album called Distant Relatives in June. As one would expect, the record mixes Reggae and Rap.

Robin Thicke has made enough progress on his next album to predict a first single this summer with a full-length release in the fall.

“I’ve got about 15 new (songs),” Thicke told reporters during a Monday conference call to promote his upcoming concert tour with Jennifer Hudson. The big change this time, he said, was working with a variety of different producers rather than helming the set himself.

“I always wanted to be like Prince and write and produce myself,” Thicke said. “This time I’m not trying to take all the credit…and work with a lot of the best producers in the business. So my sound is going to be a lot different than anything I’ve ever done before. The sound I’m getting is brand new for me. It’s great.”

League — the team behind many tracks on Ross’ previous albums — produced “Maybach Music, Pt. 2,” which features Lil Wayne and Kanye West. The League’s handiwork can also be heard on “Rich Off Cocaine” and “Yacht Club.” Nas also has a cameo on “Usual Suspects.”
