Lil Wayne’s “Tha Carter III” is the best selling album of 2008 selling 2.88 million copies. The album was released on June 10, 2008. T.I.’s “Paper Trail” came in 8th with 1.52 million and Beyonce’s “I Am … Sasha Fierce” came in 10th with 1.46 million.

Lil Wayne Father of New Born Son, Re-Releasing Tha Carter III

After selling more than 2.5 million copies of “Tha Carter III” in the U.S. Lil Wayne is ready to re-release the top selling album of 2008 with new tracks.
“I think we’re gonna release Tha Carter III — a new Carter III with none of the same songs, though,” Lil Wayne told MTV. “None of them. Not one! We don’t wanna call the [next album] we got coming out Tha Carter IV. That was the dilemma we were in. We want Carter IV to be what everybody wants it to be. This is something brand-new, so we don’t want it to be some experimental thing, ’cause some people are not gonna like this. I don’t want them to not like Tha Carter IV. But I do have an album coming soon, very soon, and it’s gonna be called … Tha Carter III: The Rebirth. The birth of a new beginning.”
No release date has been announced.
In related news, Lil Wayne, BET’s 2008 MVP of the Year award winner, is the father of his new born son, Dwayne Carter III. The newborn was born this Wednesday afternoon at Christ Hospital in Cincinnati.
