Mos Def ‘The Ecstatic’ Due June 9

Mos Def has announced the release of his highly-anticipated new album, The Ecstatic (Downtown Records) on June 9.

Several new tracks from The Ecstatic, including “Life In Marvelous Times” and “Quiet Dog Bite Hard” can be heard now via Mos Def’s MySpace page. These debut tracks are also available now via download on RCRD LBL and on iTunes.

The album’s release coincides with the 10 year anniversary of his seminal debut album, Black on Both Sides. Mos will be announcing more details on The Ecstatic and upcoming U.S. tour in the coming weeks.

Mos Def Partners With Undrcrwn For New Collection

Rapper Mos Def is teaming up with streetwear label Undrcrwn to release a 14 piece cut-and-sewn collection in spring 2009.

The line is called “Mos Def designed by Dustin Canalin for Undrcrwn” and it will take colors and prints from Dead Prez’s 2004 album RBG: Revolutionary But Gangsta.

Mos Def said, “I come from a place where how stylish or fashionable you were had nothing to do with how much money you had.”

“Brands like Supreme are giving luxury brands a big run for their money. These types of brands represent a certain type of perspective and a new kind of status.”

The line will retail from $36 to $200.
