Soulja Boy’s Album Projected to Sell 30,000 Copies, Keyshia Cole 300k

The sales projection for next week is in. After looking at the 1 day sales Keyshia Cole’s “A Different Me” is projected to have a first week sale total of 275-300k. The album is expected to debut at #2 on the charts next week which is not bad considering she didn’t have much promotion.
Meanwhile, Jamie Foxx’s “Intuition” should debut in the 200k range in the #3 or #4 spot behind Coles. Anthony Hamilton is looking at 120-130k for his new album, “The Point of it All”.
Plies’ album “DA REAList” is expected to sell 100k. But the biggest surprise of all is platinum rapper Soulja Boy. His sophomore album “iSouljaboyTellem” is only on pace to sell 30,000 copies in its first week.
Is Soulja Boy’s career over?

Soulja Boy gets a lot of hate from the rap community but you have to give him props for being a true self-made man. He started with no buzz and built up a cult-like following through MySpace and YouTube. He was able to show case himself in a way no one had ever done before through the internet. His debut album “souljaboytellem.com” was a major success, so will his sophmore album “iSouljaBoyTellem” live up to the expectations? The answer is no. Soulja Boy tried to use the same formula as his first album. He tried to create another “Crank Dat” with “Bird Walk” but it hasn’t caught on. Comparing his 2nd album to his first is like comparing his cheap Yums to Bapes. “iSouljaBoyTellem” will be released a little more than a year after his first and it feels rushed. He needs to put down his Xbox controller and youtube camera and come harder next time. There are some positives to this album though. The production was pretty decent and there are a few catchy hooks. Overall I give this album a failing grade.
