50 Cent, Jim Jones, Lloyd Banks and more are featured in the new Kill The Record Labels documentary examining the war between record companies and artists making profits through mixtapes.
The project features a wide variety of regional hip-hop entertainers
Included in the film are 50 Cent, Bun B, Maino, Young Buck, Juelz Santana, Lil Scrappy, Jim Jones, DJ Drama, Lloyd Banks, Chamillionaire, S One, Red Cafe, Green Lantern, DJ Vlad, DJ Rob E Rob, Kid Carpi, DJ Lazy K, DJ Thoro and Mike Jones
Director Charles Rand has expressed his motivation for creating the documentary.
“Hip-Hop music has become the voice of the urban community,” Rand said in a statement. “Artists like 50 Cent and Bun B make music about real life situations that happen in their neighborhoods. Generally, artists don’t make music about what goes on inside the music business. I made this film to give DJs, artist, and producers a voice. A great documentary is informative and entertaining. I spent alot of time and energy to make sure the audience walks away from this film with a better understanding of issues that affect hip hop culture and music.”
Kobe Doin’ Work - Documentary Sneak Peak by Spike Lee

So what’s a day in the life of NBA MVP Kobe Bryant like? When he’s not dunking on the court or jumping over a moving car, Ashton Martin to be exact, he’s just himself, Kobe Bryant. Kobe Bryant and ESPN have teamed up with “He Got Game” director Spike Lee to produce “A Day in the Life” of Kobe Bryant.
Spike Lee is a huge supporter and fan of the game of basketball. Spike Lee’s documentary entitled Kobe Doin’ Work will have its world premiere at the 2009 Tribeca Film Festival on April 25, the festival announced today. For those who don’t plan to be in Manhattan that day, Kobe Doin’ Work will first air on ESPN on May 16 at 4:30 p.m. PST.
The documentary should be good TV for Lakers fans because of the access Lee received. As a result of unlimited time with Bryant before, during and after a game against the San Antonio Spurs last season, ESPN is billing Kobe Doin’ Work as “a definitive portrait” of the Lakers superstar.

Mike Tyson Documentary Trailer
March 14, 2009 by WB Productions · Leave a Comment
“Tyson” is acclaimed indie director James Toback’s stylistically inventive portrait of a mesmerizing Mike Tyson. Toback allows Tyson to reveal himself without inhibition and with eloquence and a pervasive vulnerability. Through a mixture of original interviews and archival footage and photographs, a startlingly complex, fully-rounded human being emerges. The film ranges from Tyson’s earliest memories of growing up on the mean streets of Brooklyn through his entry into the world of boxing, to his rollercoaster ride in the funhouse of worldwide fame and fortunes won and lost. It is the story of a legendary and uniquely controversial international athletic icon, a figure conjuring radical questions of race and class. In its depiction of a man rising from the most debased circumstances to unlimited heights, destroyed by his own hubris, “Tyson” emerges as a modern day version of classic Greek tragedy.
