First I want to say that I have no problem with Rick Ross being a former CO. I do have a problem with him pretending to be somebody he’s not. The lyrics in this album is ridiculously lame considering he was never a drug dealer. If Bow Wow got grilled for naming his album “New Jack City Part II” then Ross should get the same treatment for rapping about things he never did. Rick Ross is exactly who I thought he was…a “Relieve Rapper” (like a relieve pitcher in baseball). Ross needs people to set him up with a hot beat and make a hot hook in order for his songs to succeed. Just look at his singles from his last album “Trilla”. All 3 singles featured guest rappers. Ross is a one dimensional rapper with one flow. He cannot adapt to the different beats and cannot make a hot hook. A quick look at the tracklist and you can see that 10 of his 14 songs contains guest appearances because no one wants to listen to a 5 minute track of him talking about how much of a boss he is. In the end of the day, the guest appearances probably saved his album from being a complete flop. I think Rick Ross will probably sell a lot because of the publicity he received from beefing with 50 Cent. However, this album is by far his worst.

Rick Ross “Deeper Than Rap” Drops April 21, Announces Tour

March 4, 2009 by Porky · Leave a Comment

According to Rick Ross, his Deeper Than Rap album — set to drop April 21 — will be his hip-hop “inauguration.” The LP, originally slated for a March 24 release, has been pushed back a month. Ross and his reps recently released a bit more info on the project, supplying us with collabos and song titles.

“Valley of Death” features Mary J. Blige, while The-Dream’s go-to guy, producer Tricky Stewart, supplied the beat for “All I Want.” Other beat men on the LP include the Runner, who wrote tracks for “Boss’ Lady,” “In Cold Blood” and “Laid Back,” and Drumma Boy, who helmed “Face.” The J.U.S.T.I.C.E. League — the team behind many tracks on Ross’ previous albums — produced “Maybach Music, Pt. 2,” which features Lil Wayne and Kanye West. The League’s handiwork can also be heard on “Rich Off Cocaine” and “Yacht Club.” Nas also has a cameo on “Usual Suspects.”
