Bun B’s First Single to Feature Drake and Jamie Foxx?

July 16, 2009 by Porky · Leave a Comment

Producers Play-N-Skillz have revealed that rapper Bun B is hoping to recruit the likes of Drake and Jamie Foxx for a single on his new album.

And according to the producing duo, if the song is created it will be the first single off of Bun B’s album.

“It’s going to be the official single off of Bun B’s new album,” Play, one half of Play-N-Skillz told XXL. “Drake and Jamie Foxx were supposed to be on the song. We didn’t actually do a session, it was just talked about and [Bun’s people] were gonna go through with it. Drake’s schedule just got crazy—his buzz just exploded—so I don’t know where we are with all that.”

Shawty Lo’s Sophmore LP “I Am Carlos” Due in June

How smart is Shawty Lo’s marketing plan? His D4L Studio is right on Donald Lee Hollowell Parkway, better known as the Bankhead Strip, and you can hear his music blasting all hours of the day and night. So anybody coming in or out of the ‘hood hears what he’s cooking up.

You can get some fried chicken at the restaurant across the street or get your car fixed at the store right next to it. A strip club is down the block; so is the housing project where Lo grew up, the Bowen Homes. It’s all boarded up now, and most of the residents have moved out. Right outside the D4L Studio doors, there’s a barbecue brewing. A grill is being put together, and the food is on deck.

Inside, Lo isn’t grilling anything — he’s baking.

“I had to stop doing shows for a minute,” said Shawty, wearing all white except his red Louis Vuitton scarf, which matches the walls. “I’m not a freestyle [artist]. I take my time and write. So I had to stop doing shows and dedicate myself to being in the studio and making quality music, what people wanna hear. I call it putting it in the oven. I bake my music and put it out.”

  • Lil Wayne announced his rock album “Rebirth” will release April 7. His first single is called Prom Queen and Wayne is hosting a live streaming concert on MySpace on January 27.
“This is something brand new, so we don’t want it to be some experimental thing, ’cause some people are not gonna like this. I don’t want them to not like Tha Carter IV. But I do have an album coming soon, very soon, and it’s gonna be called … Tha Carter III: The Rebirth. The birth of a new beginning.”
  • 50 revealed that Before I Self Destruct has been delayed to a March release. The album will come with a free DVD with the same name. 50 also started his own film company called Cheetah Vision. The company has purchased 8 scripts and one of them is called “The Dance” featuring 50 Cent and Nicolas Cage. The rapper is also planning an international tour in Zimbabwe.
  • Jay-Z’s isn’t sure whether his Blueprint 3 album will be released under Def Jam or Live Nation. Jay-Z is still under contract with Def Jam for one more album but the rapper signed a 10 year 150 million dollar deal with Live Nation last year to launch the label StarRoc with producers Stargate.
“Well, whatever it is, it’ll be Roc Nation. It’s gonna be a partnership with someone,” he said. “So whether it’s going to be Def Jam or someone [else], that’s yet to be determined.”
  • Bun B told MTV this week that UGK’s next and final album titled “For Life” is scheduled to release March 31 via Jive Records.
