Akon to make Official 2010 FIFA World Cup Theme Song

To all the soccer fans out there.

R&B singer and Lady GaGa’s producer Akon confirmed his involvement in 2010 FIFA World Cup soundtrack project.

I’ve been hired as musical director for the World Cup,” Akon said. “I’m the official music co-ordinator. It means I’ll produce the official World Cup song and I’ll oversee all the official music.”

Little is yet revealed about the soundtrack itself. We don’t know if Akon only produces or also sings on the anthem. The list of musicians involved in the project is also kept under wraps.

Akon Protege Dolla Shot Dead

Authorities said a man found with a gun at Los Angeles International Airport was being questioned by police over the upscale mall shooting of a young man identified by his publicist as Atlanta-based rapper Dolla.

Dolla, a rapping protege of hip-hop artist Akon, was fatally shot in the head Monday near a valet stand outside the Beverly Center, publicist Sue Vannasing told the Los Angeles Times.

Investigators were questioning a 20-year-old man found hours later in a ticketing area of the airport, said airport police spokesman Sgt. Jim Holcomb.

One of Akon’s peeps got a special visit last night - from robbers.

According to TMZ, four to five “black males” - all brandishing firearms - rolled to a Van Nuys home occupied by a man who works for Akon last night.

They took a bunch of his stuff, including expensive stereo and recording equipment. Emphasis on the word expensive. Total heist value: $300,000.

And here’s the craziest thing: According to one of the victims of this home invasion robbery early this morning - a man who works for Detail, Akon’s producer - says notorious hip-hop mogul / tough guy Suge Knight is behind this.

Akon to Produce and Write for X-Factor Winner Alexandra Burke

Akon has confirmed that he will be working on Alexandra Burke’s debut album this year.

The R&B star was recruited to write songs for the X Factor winner after she signed a US record contract last month.

“I’ve had calls to work with Alex and I’m going to do it,” Akon told the Daily Star. “I love The X Factor and I love helping to break new artists. To me, it’s one of the most enjoyable and important aspects of my job.”
