T-Pain’s Auto-Tune iPhone app: You can do it all by yourse-el-el-el-elf

I am T-Pain lets you sing along with T-Pain songs using the same auto-tune technology he’s known for in songs like “I’m N Luv (Wit a Stripper)” and “Bartender.”
On the basic level, it’s like a karaoke app. You just sing along to the words into the iPhone mic. I sang to “Bartender.”
But when you listen to the recorded track, you hear your voice all synthesized and modulated like T-Pain. Auto-tune is a technology that can both correct for errors in pitch but also change your voice, making it sound synthetic.
It was really cool hearing me sing like T-Pain. I’ve got to get the words down faster but the sensation is there right away.
In addition to singing over T-Pain songs, some of which require you to buy them, you can also free style in various modes and keys and auto-tune is applied to your voice.
Smule is known for its music apps like the popular Ocarina app. This is a bit of a departure, partnering with a star like T-Pain but it makes sense in a larger way. Smule is about social music and this is the kind of stuff that brings people together. You can not only record the songs, but also e-mail them or publish them to Facebook, MySpace or Smule.
