Rapper's Wife Speeds Her Way To Jail - Guess Who?'

NORTH CASTLE — The wife of rapper and actor DMX was pulled over after being observed driving 106 mph on Interstate 684, the same road where her husband was clocked at 104 mph in December 2004, police said.

Tashera J. Simmons, 34, was stopped in a 2000 Mercedes-Benz traveling north on I-684 early Sunday morning in a 65-mph zone with four children who were not wearing seat belts, according to a state police news release issued yesterday.

Tashera Simmons was charged with speeding, driving an uninspected vehicle and not using child restraints.

Her husband, whose real name is Earl Simmons, a Yonkers native, was stopped on the same road heading southbound more than a year ago. He was arrested after he was found driving with a suspended license, police said.

That arrest came a week after he pleaded guilty to driving under the influence and reckless endangerment after an incident at Kennedy International Airport in which Simmons and another Yonkers man were arrested.

In the past 15 years, Simmons has been arrested multiple times in several countries on charges ranging from using obscene language during a performance to illegal drug and weapons possession charges.

Tashera Simmons was listed as a co-producer of the 2004 film "Never Die Alone," which starred DMX as a kingpin drug dealer who returns to his hometown seeking redemption only to die a violent death.

Tashera Simmons gave birth to the couple's fourth child, Praise Mary Ella, in April.

The couple has one home in Bedford and another in Teaneck, N.J.

Tashera Simmons is due in North Castle Court on Feb. 28.
