this question should be ask for both sex. I do have to agree with grimey though. Niggas lied about small, inconspicuous things that might not seem relevant to be brought up. If we know that it could lead to a questionable argument which helps no one, then we will try to avoid the situation. It's not really a defense mechanism, but compromising the situation to save both of us a headache. We will sometimes recognize the fault before the event even finishes, we just choose not to involve the relationship so that thin line cannot be broken. We know how hard we worked to receive that trust from a woman and we will make sure we don't do anything to falter that trust into an opposite direction from us. Through experience, women can exasperate a situation into a more complex, confusing, un-neccesary problem. That is why we lie about the small things.

My question is why do women lie about something that has a huge impact on teh relationship and the relationship of others? If it is something that dramatic on that kind of scale, why hide or develop this secrecy? Women will never understand a man because of the simplicity of our mind and how we view on life itself. Men will never understand women because of the complexity of her mind and how a face-value problem has "in-between-the-lines".

People also lie to avoid amitting they made a mistake, or dont want you to see the unpleasant truth about them.

I'd much rather deal with something unpleasant now than to find out later. Its a double disappointment.
