Dear Ugly Duckling,
It might seem like there are a lot of girls out there who look naturally beautiful, but what you may not realize is that there is a lot of work that goes into looking beautiful. Most people don’t just wake up and look great. When you go to school, you have to study to get good grades. In the world of beauty, it’s the same way.
Those skinny girls are either thin because of good genes from their parents; they work out and eat healthy; or, in some cases, they’re starving themselves. For this column, let’s pretend they’re thin because they work out. That still takes work and discipline. It means sometimes you have to just say no to that dessert or start working out when you’d rather be laying on the couch.
As for hair and make up, some people have nice, straight hair because they used a flat iron or their hair pops into place nicely because they’ve figured out how to get a nice hair cut. Again, everything takes work, so spend some time practicing. It might take some trial periods—a lot of bad make-up and some embarrassing hairdos—but you’ll eventually get the hang of it. What has been helpful for me is to ask people to help you. They probably have better ideas and more experience to pass along.
As for finding clothes that look nice, don’t feel like you have to drop twenty pounds to fit into the right outfit. You just need to figure out which type of clothing fits best with your body type. Just because a shirt looks beautiful on the rack doesn’t mean it’ll be a good fit with your body. Try a bunch of different styles, even the ones you don’t think would work out. Know, too, that the clothes on the rack don’t have to stay that way. If some pants are too long, get them tailored. If a shirt is low-cut, wear a tank top underneath.
And those beautiful high heels that some girls wear? They hurt. No matter how beautiful someone may look, they still hurt. Some girls have just gotten better at hiding the pain than others.
So learn some beauty tips, practice new things, ask for advice, but remember that physical beauty doesn’t equal everything. If you remember the story, the Ugly Duckling eventually becomes a beautiful swan.
Beauty isn't everything. Remember if you have a good personally, it can overlook the beauty. Remember you are beautiful no matter what. Love yourself first. I hope that your desire for beauty is as strong as your desire for success. Beauty doesn't last and can be easily found but power is going to last you a lifetime. Love someone that believes in your beauty. To respect and love yourself. If you were really beautiful, you shouldn’t be judging and comparing yourself to others or those who had hurt you in the past. You talk as if money can buy you everything, it may have bought you beauty but not true happiness. Beauty on the outside it may have brought you to where you are. But the pain and hate of others afflicted on you still lies routing within your soul and made you very ugly. You may have several men but your not even confident in yourself yet to find true love. Who knows maybe they’re just using you…it doesn’t matter at the end everyone gets old. Money and education can’t buy you true happiness, If you can’t find it within yourself you may never find it in beauty.
Sincerely,
