im 6ft3 n weigh bout 155lbs. i use whey protein isolate & concentrate mixed with dextrose or maltodextrin. i try and get about 100grams of protein a day and bout 150grams of carbs and try to keep the fat low. i use this site www.myprotein.co.uk - its only for UK customers i think but they let you mix whatever you want so you can leave out the sweeteners and flavouring. the powder mixes easy and tastes real gd.

i jus take 2 protein shake, 2 pints a day, make sure i do an hour of weights everyday...n shit is workin BIG TIME. Couple years back i fell ill n my weight dropped to jus under 10stone n i'm 6'4 so i was borderline anorexic u know. Bin takin this shit 4 jus over a yr now n already i gained 3 stone...mainly muscle too, would recommend that shit to anyone!

basically the key to gaining weight it dedication... and consistancy
you gotta do the following on a daily basis
- eat healthy
- consume as much or as close to as much as you weigh daily
- drink 64 oz of water a day or more. (burns fat better then anything)
- get a work out plan and workout 4/5 days a week
- run (helps you get ripped)
- sleep 8 to 10 hours a night (your body growns the most when your asleep)

and u should definately see major improvments

Eat, go heavy on the weights, and sleep at least 8 or 9 hours a day.Define 'heavy' ? this misconception of lifting 'heavy' is what's causing injuries of all sorts to ppl who're NOT pro body builders - which is pretty much most of us who're not into the sport professionally

Ur muscles are built of slow and fast twitch fibers ..Fast twitch grow with explosive lifting but slow twitch fibers grow mainly with Endurance training rather than just lifting HEAVY for 5-6 reps. ..my suggestion to you would be to leave behind ur ego of being able to lift 'heavy' and start lifing 'Smart'. Use a little less weight than you use normally for each exercise and push out no less than 12 reps on each set. But concentrate on the squeeze and stretch of each rep, dont jerk the weight around and let momentum take over. Ule reap the benefits much faster than the egoistic guys around u in the gym. haha, protein shakes aint nothing to do with steroids. and if you just do weights and a normal diet you aint gonna grow much. you gotta eat loads of protein and carbs, and if you doin it with normal food its gonna cost you alot. protein shakes give you an extra 60-80 grams of protein a day and its made from cheese and butter. no chemicals in it.

there are a whole lot of chemicals in it not necessarily the bad kind but it is present in making the protein edible, and for preservation purposes. And how do you suppose it gets all those wonderful flavors??

And protein shakes have still not proven to be as useful or even better than natural food..plus ..a chicken breast which contains about 50g of pure protein is way better than taking a scoop of protein powder cuz it requires digestion and enzymes to break down protein to take it to your muscles and this ensures that all the protein is utilized by your body ..and protein shakes because they're in liquid form pass thru the system much faster resulting in wastage because there isnt much digestion time....
